Gainesville 4: Boy (10), Girl (7), Boy (23 months), Boy (3 months) |
I'd like to really start teaching my kids not just about saving, but about finances in general. Does anyone have any good tips for teaching kids to be responsible with money? Any projects, etc?

I just give my kids the facts of life. When they ask for something, I promptly ask them "Do you have any money?" of course they say no.
And I tell them things they can do to earn money, how to save and but it themselves. Other times I go ahead and buy the item, but I don't let them have it till they earn it. We agree upon what they must do and for how long. We make up a simple chart and they mark off each box till they earn that item. Tammy Architect major @SFCC, working my butt off to get into UF. |

"Mom, I want an ice-cream." "Do you have ice-cream money?" Okay, so I do treat my kids but I also want them to understand that in life, you have to earn things and everything is not free. But, I think they get that |
