Does anyone give their babies organic baby food? It is more costly. Is it worth the extra money?

I didn't, but by time I had my third I clued in that I could make my own baby food, and save a lot of money. It really wasn't too hard and it was nice to see what exactly he was eating. I made batches and froze portions for later.

Hi Marianne --

So can you give me some more details on making your own baby food? Did you just process fruits and veggies into a smooth paste? or is there more to it than that?

Hi Nate...I made alot of my daughters food too. Yes mostly it was just a matter of processing the foods. Sometimes I added water to certain things if the consistancy wasn't smooth enough when she was really little. It is nice knowing what exactly is in what they are eating.

Yep, it was just that. I would make a bunch of food at one time (sweet potatoes, steamed veggies, etc.), blend them (or if you have a food processor - even better), then freeze them in mini tupperware containers, or old baby food jars. I also just bought unsweetened apple sauce in a big jar rather than in those small Gerber jars.

By the way, the baby that I made it for is Nate Smiler Short for Nathanael. Great name!
