Gainesville 4: Boy (10), Girl (7), Boy (23 months), Boy (3 months) |
I received this email. Am keeping it anonymous. Sounds like this dad is looking for recommendations for day cares, but also possible play groups/baby gyms. Can we help?
I am looking for your advice. I work from home in Gainesville and my wife is at her first year fellowship in UF. We have a beautiful and charming daughter, who is on her 10th month. We have been taking care of our baby at home following recommendations, advice, common sense and literature. We would like to find a good place to start the daycare journey for our daughter...may be some time for exercise but we don't know the city well neither quality of daycares around. Where may I find information or guide about those places? If you can give me some advice about day cares or reviews, I will really appreciate it. |

I can definitely recommend three day cares in Gainesville that I have had wonderful experiences at. The first is the one where I had my little boy recently. The other two, my older children went to years ago, but I still hear wonderful things about them.
The first is Sonshine Day Care, located at Westside Baptist Church. The place is bright, cheery and very clean. I had no problems popping up and finding my child being well cared for. He was in the up-to 18-months room at the time. They do have a long waiting list as far as I know, so this would be a good time to get your daughter on the list at least. (333-0017) The second is My School. I believe they take children starting at 18 months, but don't quote me on that. Many of the staff have been working there for years and years. The director, Marilyn, has been there for more than 20 years I think. I loved, loved this day care because it was more like a place for learning than just a day care. They also do a lot of family friendly events where the parents are invited. Great school and about a block away from UF's law school, so very close to campus, which would be convenient for you guys. (373-1328) The third is Santa Fe Little School. I had a really good experience there when I was a student there, although it may be kind of far if you guys are around the UF area. (395-5597) As far as baby gyms, you can check out O2B Kids. That is really the only baby-type gym I know about and still, I am not sure about activities for babies. I was never a member, but have heard good things about it. (332-5500) |

You can also see if you check with the early learning coalition. They are great with assisting parents. You can check out their website at http://www.elcalachua.org/
