Hello ladies,
As some of you know my family and I are moving to Gainesville this summer. For what I have been reading on the site there are other members doing the same. So this question maybe one that other members are also wondering about. My husband and I are considering renting or buying. We are not sure yet, depends on how much the monthly payments will be. We have looked on craigslist and other sites. We also have been in contact with some realtors. Anyone knows of any houses for rent or sale in the NW Or SW of Gainesville? or any useful sites where to look? We are hoping for a 3br 2b for less than a $1,000. Less being a main word. We have a very tight budget to work with.
Any info, advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Smiler

You can check with Ed Baur Management...we rented from them for 5 years. Their website is www.edbaurmanagement.com They have some pretty reasonable prices. We used a lady named Kay Mahaffey at ERA when we finally bought our house..she was pretty awesome and we went through Crown Financial Group for our brokers...we pay 1244/month though....I think house prices are pretty crazy here actually....if I can help anymore let me know Smiler

We rented from this company. You can go check out their web site. I am pretty sure there are some things in the price range and area you are looking for.

We bought our first home when we moved here in January. If you want a great realtor who knows Gainesville very well, I highly recommend Jean Chalmers. We were referred to her from a couple of people and she is awesome. She really knows her stuff. If you are looking to rent, she may be able to help you there, too. If you have any questions about particular neighborhoods, feel free to ask us here (although other members will probably know more than me). Gainesville is known by its subdivisions or neighborhoods (ex: Haile, Summit Oaks, etc.)

Oh, you can check www.bosshardtrealty.com and search the Gainesville MLS there to see houses. Right now might be a good time to buy if you can Smiler

I forgot to mention too...not sure if you are interested in townhomes, but I noticed tonight (we went for a walk) that there a bunch for sale around where I live. Most of them are in Forest of the Unicorn and down that main street (24th off of 39th). Before we bought our house, we looked at one and they are pretty big (1600sqft for many) and we love this neighborhood Smiler

Yes..it's Norton Elementary...it's actually walking distance form any of the neighborhoods right around me...we literally live maybe 4 streets from it. I know it's an A rated school..I have a couple of friends whose kids go there and they really like it Smiler A good website to check out schools is www.greatschools.com they have a ton of info on all the schools. Hope this helps Smiler

There is actually a house for sale right next door to us. Don't know the asking price, but I can find out. The realtor we used back in December when we bought our place is Don Myers at ERA Trend. We love him. Here's his info:
