Okay, after I just sat here and watched Zane's juice cup actually leak from under the fully tightened cap - while it was upright!! - and before I light the match for a bonfire of sippy cups that are the bane of my existence....
Are there ANY out there that truly don't leak? I can deal with a drip here or there but these things are pouring liquid out in puddles which means I am wasting juice/milk and money!! I found a couple when Macy was a baby and those were worn out from her using them so much and chewing on the spouts so I bought the same brands/styles again and they are awful!! Has anyone found a brand, style or trick to keep these cups from leaking?? I swear the ones intended to be used and thrown away are better than the $7 apiece ones!! And now I can't find the use and throw away kind we had - AAUUUGGHHH!!! |

I'm a big fan of the Gerber brand sippy cups. I find them at Target or Publix usually. They come in two different sizes and have just one hard, plastic piece for the valve. Very easy to clean and have some insulation so stuff stays cold longer. As long as I leave about 1/2-3/4 inches of space when I fill it up, I've had no leaking problems.
Also, the disposable cups can be found at Target. Good luck! |

You know what - the very one I watched leaking out while sitting upright (still not sure how that worked out) was indeed a Gerber insulated cup I bought at Publix! Since it was for our 13 month old, I only put about 2 ounces of juice and equal part water and it is a 6 ounce cup so it had 1/3 volume of room left! It was apple juice and water and it was actually acting like a carbonated drink would do! Thanks for the suggestion and I will look for those disposables. I am pretty sure the brand was 'the first years' and I know they sell other products by them.

I buy the munchkin cups...mostly from walmart...but you know what? Some of them leak and some of them don't!! I only use them when we go out now and I don't put the no drip thingy inside them anymore because G is three and does pretty well with real cups at home and doesn't dump them over anymore either. But even so...some of them will leak and some won't. I do find that if I don't leave a good inch and a half of room from the top it will definetly leak though...

I swear by the Playtex cups - we liked them better than the Gerber. If you don't put the vents in well, any cup could leak.

I just figure we're going to replace all the carpeting in our house when we're done with bottles and sippy cups. All the ones I've ever tried have leaked at some point -- so there are little juice and milk stains throughout the house. (I've gotten creative at hiding
them |

Well at least it seems it isn't just me. I make sure the valves are in tightly, the lids are on good but not over-tightened and leave plenty of space at the top so I am using them right, they just leak. I suppose there could be much worse things happening so I should be happy with juice and milk spots...LOL

It's a standing rule in my house that no cups go out of the kitchen. I have thrown too many of them away because I found them behind the couch 3 days later and the milk was curdled and i nearly barfed....so we stay in the kitchen.
Not that it's fully enforced all the time, but for the most part... |

We have sort of the same rule...Our kitchen, dining and family room are like one big great room and food and drink are allowed in those areas...however the living room and bedrooms are off limits to food. Except water...

The disposable cups are first year. We use the straw cups because my daughter refused to use a sippie cup. She saw me and my husband drink out of straws while we were out and that was it. We got her the straw kind and she love them. Now the bad thing is if she throws the cup the top comes off. But you can find the "first years" cups at target. They have both kind the straw and the sippie kind.

I would love to have an enforceable rule like no cups in the living room but our house just isn't set up in a way to allow that to be realistic - not yet anyway. They could get into SO much more trouble in the kitchen, dining room or the rest of the house - all of which have the hard floors. I could care less about the carpeting, its the cheapest stuff out there any way and we only bought it as a last minute emergency as the house was trashed by the former occupant between accpetance of the offer and going to the table - another story. My issue is these cups cost too much to be no better than I could do with any old cup in the cabinet and a straw, and with all the drips come ants. I have tried the throw away kind with the straw and the liquid tends to bubble up thru the straw as there is no vent hole in the lid so I poked a small hole with an ice pick and problem solved. I guess I am just going to have to wipe down everywhere everynight until they get the hang of being more careful. Macy is fine, Zane is the culprit but he is learning.

I picked up sippy cups from (would you believe) Walgreens. They came in a pack of 2 with handles for $2.99. They are an off the wall brand but you can throw those things and they will not leak, but they are easy to drink out of. My 11 month old has no problem with them. She loves them. Try them out, hopefully they help.

I'm not sure. I think it's Walgreens brand. They are not in a cardboard package. They are just together with cellophane. They're small, approx 6oz each and they have a hard spout. They were on the top shelf in the baby isle at Walgreens. Sorry I can't be more descriptive than that. Hope you find them.
