Just curious...when did everyone take their infants out of the house for the first time?

With our first (Caeli), it was probably about a month. With the second....I had to take Caeli to school..so, it was only one week!

My first (14 years ago), I waited about a month.
My second was 7 weeks early, so she was more susceptable. We waited about three months with her. That was a long three months at home.

I believe we took my daughter to the store after we had been home only 1 day from the hospital. She was born the morning of December 18, and we brought her home on the 20th. My parents were arriving along with my sisters and my grandmother on the 23rd, and my in-laws were arriving the 24th. So, we had to do the shopping for Christmas dinner. When she was just a week my parents and I took Jordan to the beach for the first time. Gavyn was tooling around the mall within a week of his birth.

I was really bad and got stir crazy after all 3 of mine; #1 was less than a week old when we went to Olive Garden and only 3 weeks old for his first trip to Disneyland (we only lived about an hour away at the time); #2 was 5 days old and I had to drive him and #1 (who was 18 months) to my friend's house 20 miles away so she could help me (dh was in school and no family was with us). That was out of necessity (who would want to drive a stick shift after being torn both ways??). #3 was 2 days old when we went out for lunch, and 1 week when we took all 3 boys to disneyland (ages 3.5, 23 months, and newborn). In hindsight, I probably should have stayed home and rested! I was running on adrenaline Smiler

I don't think I waited that long either. I don't remember with my son. But with my daughter it was within days.

hhmm, you'll think we're nuts here, but with my first, it was the afternoon of the day he was discharged from the hospital, we took off for Mississippi to meet his big brother, who was leaving in two days for a tour of duty in Iraq. With our second, we took him to a big "meet our new baby" lunch at Cabana's when he was 3 days old. And our third, we took him to his nephew's 7th b-day party when he was 8 days old. Gosh, listing it all out sounds kinda wild, but we never have been the sit at home types. I figure, if the baby's healthy, and you're very careful, all is well! Smiler

Hey, 3 monkeys mom, that's an excellent name: That's what I have, too. 3 y/o; 1 y/o and 6 m/o (all boys)! Even my cats are all males! What a life!

And yes, I refuse to allow parenthood to treat me like I'm under house arrest (well, if at all possible)! Smiler

my daughter was born on monday, we went to church the following sunday (it was mother's day) much to dismay of my disapproving mother in law.

my son was born on wednesday and again we were in church on sunday morning.

funny, it was important to me that the first place the visited was church. they were both born in may so the weather was nice and not a lot of colds around. everyone that i loved was there. and yes, mother in law was there to tell me what a terrible mother i was for the second first trip to church...

but she's not my mother in law anymore...and i always did what i wanted regardless!
