3? - girl (5yrs.), girl (3 yrs), one on the way |
With my first I was all excited when she seemed interested in potty training, around 20 months, so we started right away. She went a couple of times and then just stopped. I tried every idea I heard or read about short of letting her run around naked in the backyard (no fence and mennonite neighbors). Finally I realized that my "strong-willed" child would do it when she was ready. Soon after she turned 3 and she could change her own diaper, she decided that she wanted to be a big girl and just went with no accidents. So the second time around we decided to wait until right around when she turns 3 too.

Believe me, I understand about "strong willed" children. Which is why I'm kind of nervous with this one. But, I think you are right, each kid has their own time line. I think I'll wait a little longer.
Has anyone ever tried the book "Potty Training in One Day"? I used it with my little girl and it laid a nice foundation. I will have to track that book down again. I knew I should have picked it up at that yard sale for $1. |

okay my daughter will be a year old in 15 days and a member of the family is all ready harrassing me about potty training. I am thinking she is nuts!! There is no way my 1 year old could ever begin to hold her blatter until she gets to potty. What do you think??
