To celebrate the Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, the channel is going dark for three hours this Saturday. That's no "SpongeBob," no "Dora," no "Drake & Josh" for three whole hours from noon to 3 p.m.

The channel suggest kids spend the time that they would have been in front of the TV outside.

I love it! My mom always made us play outside FOR HOURS! My brother and I had the best time and we really bonded that way. You don't make memories in front of the TV.

This is a great idea! My son loves the Nick shows (I am not a fan). It will be great to have a Saturday Nick free! Has anyone seen the show on PBS (I prefer PBS to Nick) called Sid Science? It is so cute! I always watch it w/ my kids who love to sing and dance w/ the kids...so cute and educational!

I'll have to remember to check out PBS. My daughter is pretty much a big Playhouse Disney fan, but I'm ready for some new shows!
