if anyone is interested, some would like to start a Coupons Swap Club. Due to the high cost of food, and our paychecks not catching up with the high cost, coupons can make a world of difference.

The Coupon Swap Club can meet once a month, on the 4th Saturday (or Sunday) of the month at the Oaks Mall Food Court to swap coupons, at 4pm.

Anyone interested in at least coming to see what advantages there are to meeting, come by this Saturday (July 26)).

There are alot of coupon that can be swaped...what one family may not use, another can. (lol..like what may be one's junk, is another treasure).

Hope to see you there!

I don't use coupons very often, as I've found that comparing costs and using store brands is sometimes more effective.

I do have another idea for y'all, though. Publix has great buy-one-get-one-free sales every week. I try to take advantage of these, though sometimes have two related obstacles:

If it's a higher ticket item, i.e. frozen chicken nuggets at $6, I sometimes don't want to spend that much just to get a 'deal'. Along with that, my household is small and sometimes big bags of product just go to waste.

I'd like to find someone in a similar situation who might want to split these BOGOF items. Any thoughts?

Might I make a suggestion? Why not do it Sunday instead to give everyone the chance to get their papers and cut them out before the swap

If you like coupons and saving money, you may LOVE this.

I use this site ALL the time. I practically filled my teen daughter's Christmas stocking with FREE SAMPLES. They're still coming in and she's still wanting them! For every free sample I have requested, I have received the item.

This is also a coupon site; just use your computer to print them...

I tried this site Nonny....and a link from there to Resturants.com. There's not alot in the Gainesville area, but if you are traveling to Orlando or Jax, you may be able to find really good deals on rest. there. $25 GC for $8 ! I even found that the seafood rest in Lake Butler participates! There are restrictions, but they're not unreasonable.

Thanks, Caryn. I used to use Restaurant.com (thru e-Bay) all the time until about a year ago. After having problems with a couple of restaurants (they were no longer accepting the certificates even though the certificates hadn't expired), I stopped using Restaurant.com. Additionally, there used to be many local/area restaurants available, but now there are few.

You've probably heard about the local radio station (WKTK) that sells half-priced restaurant certificates (a $50 certificate for $25) every Thursday morning. We went to Restaurant Denenos in Alachua on one and had the BEST Italian food EVER! The food wasn't inexpensive, but it was WONDERFUL....

Caryn: I originally thought of Sunday afternoon but then I thought of those who went to church and wanted to give them more family time if they use their Sunday's for that. But if those who go to church and don't mind meeting on Sunday's we can do that.

I sure wish I had some coupons when I finally was able to go grocery shopping yesterday at Walmart...however, I was able to get a lot more than at Publix!

If anyone has no objections meeting on Sunday's we can do it on Sunday instead of Saturday's let us know your thoughts.

Just in case, i did meet at the food court today at 4pm. i was not sure if anyone else showed up.

FOR DETAILS ON THIS EVENT, CONTACT deebird611 via a private message.

If anyone has extra shoe boxes, please bring them. I'm trying to set up boxes by type of coupons so that when any mom comes looking for coupons it will be organized.

Any mom can come, please bring any type of coupons, as you know even if you won't use it, another mom may have good use for it.

I will be there till 4:30 and if no one shows up, I'll go ahead and leave. If people show, of course I'll stay.

If you need my cell phone number, PM me and I'll be glad to share it.

Well I sure wish I was able to go, but it's really not economical for me to spend $20 to go back and forth. Especially if I don't make out in the coupon swap.

Is there anyone in Starke, Lake Butler, Raiford that would like to meet up and do the same thing??

Hey guys,
This is a gentle nudge. I ask that members not post any meeting times or dates on the board. This rule is in place because the safety of our members is top priority.

If you'd like to meet up, and you are doing it via the board, please send details via another route (private messages or e-mails.)

I always ask people for their screen names before I give out the details. Thanks, everyone!

I have removed the details originally posted in this thread for the above reasons. If you have any questions about the coupon swap meeting time, please contact Gainesville Member DeeBird.

Please also remember that if an event is not posted by an admin, that it is not backed by Gainesville Moms and we are not responsible for those events. I just want everyone to be aware of that as we grow. Keep it in mind.

morning ladies...just wanted to give u heads up. I was in the hospital last week and I'm right now in a program for the next two weeks to deal with my depression. I'm doing ok, so far! Smiler however, there is a possibility I may not be back in town on the 4th Sunday...but I just looked at the calender and I guess I will be back in town.

I'm thinking just for this month of post-poning it to the 31st - same place, same time, instead of the 24th. This should give us more time to collect coupons. I have been cutting coupons like no tommarrow the last few days.

One of the reason is even we do make it in town, we will be just arriving and since we will be rushing around for classes/books, etc.. not only for Tim but I'm going back to college too (Business management & grant writing). So to be fair, it won't hurt to have it one Sunday later. I'm sure many here may (or may not) agree. Wink

I should get back with you next week to know for sure. I'm suppose to be in a six week-six dys program but...lol...told them no way since classes are starting. But i'm ok for now. just had a overwhelming overload emotional breakdown (finances, caregiver, certain people/event up north, etc..etc..)

I do have my laptop! yeah!!! so I do get online when my wireless decides to behave! (hence the time of day posting)

take care!

Gas is down more than a quarter (as in 25 cents, not 1/4...I wish) here so maybe I will make it this time. I have a growing collection of unwanted but good coupons!
