Well...today I had the chance to meet with Senator Stearns and staff. Discussed the issues of the low class income, and those of us who are disaiblity and/or who are caregivers to those who are on disability. We also discussed how some of the programs are just not making sense, how they say one thing and do another.
it was quite an experience and they are going to look into why SSA /medicaid is not allowing Tim to have his child support other than looking at it as income. however, since food is needed in our home so badly with the increase of everything, there has to be something that gives. She told me that because (well this is what they claim) they were not aware that all this increase was going to hurt everyone, it just was not set in the poverty line or income budget for this last year. I told her i know every one is hurting, but .... she told me that DCF should had considered our medical expencses, etc... but they didn't. I'm afraid due to so many budget cuts, that even if in October, things will not be any better to qualify for emergency food stamps. Seems there is so much the federal can do with so many of the programs are rn by the state. However, the state can't do much with the Federal doing somethin first. Am I wrong to think this? An elderly man was standing by from the Grace Baptist church and he invited to come on over and they will see what they can do to help. Tommarrow I'm hoping that the Catholic charities can at least help with the electric bill. So please keep us in your prayers as well look for some type of hope for the next few months. thanks |
