1 new baby boy |
Yesterday my hubby planned a special surprise trip to Disney for us. We have family 15 min from the park so when we got there at 1pm and I felt like I was gonna pass out it was easy for us to leave. We went back after the sun went down and rode a couple rides and watched the fireworks and I had a better time. While there, a lady (who thought I was prego so I ignored her) told my hubby I was brave because she was still in bed 4 weeks after delivering. It was a bit much but I'm getting tired of being in the house. What were you doing a month after delivering? How long did it take you to get back on your feet. Someone needs to come over and force me to take it easy!

Boy 4.5 & Girl 2. |
W/ the first one, I recall feeling "back to normal" about 4-6 weeks after delivery-I had a c-section though. I was up and about waiting on compay and doing everything caring for a newborn entails within the first week. W/ the second one, I was up and at it, within two days-no choice when # 2 comes along

Two boys, ages 3 and 1 |
I say if you're up for trips like that, then there's no reason you should be lying around at home. I'm with you guys, I felt fairly back to normal around 4-6 weeks, and I remember getting frustrated that everyone kept telling me to rest. I know they were just thinking of me though, so I was grateful.

Michigan I have 2 kids: Daughter 3 years old and a son 17 months! |
With both of my kids I never really rested after having them. My daughter was in the hospital after I was released so I was constantly going up there to be with her. And with my son I couldn't stand sitting down. I had a c-section with him and the more I rested the more it hurt when I did get up. So for the first two weeks I was just trying to keep myself busy doing a few house chores. Then after the two weeks I took everything head on because my fiance passed away.

NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
After my first I was in a lot of pain (bad c-section) but I agree that the more I rested the harder it was to do anything. After my second 9a c-section that went fine) I was out and about after a week. My daughter was in kindergarten and I had to drop her off and pick her up every afternoon...lugging the baby...haha. We went to Disney and Busch Gardens not long after he was born...my only real complaint was the heat.

tabby I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't even imagine. My father was engaged when he passed away and his sweet fiance was devastated. Them finding eachother was a dream come true for her especially and I know she felt lost. I hope you are doing well now and if you ever need to vent on this site it's a great venue...very supportive.

Daughter 1994 & son 2000. |
I am guessing you are speaking about just you, the new mom. Baby doctors don't want babies out of the house (in crowds) for 2 months due to their weak (but developing) immune systems.
My c-section was a tough one in 1994 after a 15-hr labor and complications. It took me two months to feel even close to normal. I had pain for weeks after that and by month 5 I was diagnosed with Shingles (over 1/2 of my face and head). Lack of sleep from a sickly baby had caused my body lots of problems. With baby #2 in 2000, it was an emergency c-section (he was 10.8 lbs), but because there was no "pushing," I felt great afterward FAST. He didn't sleep thru the night for 11 months, but other than exhaustion, I felt good and wanted out of the house with the baby at the 2-month mark. Before that, the grandmothers took turns babysitting (it's so nice when they BEG to We did Disney, but I was 8 months pregnant and MISERABLE due to my size. Add the Florida heat and I was ready to go home the moment we arrived! |

Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
I didn't get any rest after either of my babies. With my first, I was up and about within a week or so. I had an emergency c/section, heart failure and my son in the NICU for almost a week. When we all came home, we were signing the papers on our first home and moving in. No rest when unpacking a house!
With my second, I was ready to be up and about within hours afterwards. She was a really easy birth. Tammy |
