# of kids: 1 new baby boy

Yesterday I saw a picture of my pregnant belly and found myself smiling. THEN I was telling my newly pregnant friend that my birth was a great experience...not that bad at all. THEN I actually asked my husband when he thought he wanted another baby!!! Mine is only 7 weeks old!!! What happens to our brains? Some strange force is robbing me of all my moments of misery memories and I think I need them? What a strange phenomenon.

Isn't that crazy the way you forget about all the not-so-happy parts of pregnancy and labor. But I guess God had to make it that way or no one would ever reproduce. However, I do know a woman that has a 2-year-old son, and trust me when I say, she hasn't forgotten. She'll go on and on about how awful it was, how bad it hurt, how she'd never get pregnant again. But I think that's a rare case.

I didn't forget...I just know how 'worth it' it all turns out to be! The worth of the gift we receive is well worth what we went through and more. Not to mention the wonderful experiences only us mommies carrying our children get to experience. The first bonding, feeling those kicks and stretches from the inside, seeing that image on the ultrasound screen and knowing that is inside you right then, watching and feeling your belly stretch and grow along with your child and carrying your child so close against your heart...

(Not to put a damper on anyone who adopted..or had a surrogate....those have their own special qualities)

You made it to 7 weeks! I was saying the same thing at about 2 weeks -- after both babies! But, in my defense, I had wonderful pregnancies and extremely fast labors (3 hours with the first, just under that with the second -- don't hate me). Plus, like klmorg said, you realize how wonderful motherhood is, and pregnancy and labor and delivery are a part of that.

But I've had friends tell me that just like the feeling you're having, you have a very clear feeling when you know you're done having children. I haven't felt that yet.

I know....I miss it all too and I'm not having anymore Frowner So just dream of the little ones you will carry in the 'much closer than you think' future and in the meantime enjoy your special bonding time you have with Jack now...
