Do you have a favorite laundry soap?
I am always trying to figure which one is the best and still don't have it down yet. Tammy |

lancaster, kentucky 2 official children (daughter, 5yrs...son, 6 1/2 yrs) do my hubby and chihuahua count as children? |
i am a huge fan of all small and mighty free and clear. its one of the concentrated ones and it does an AWESOME job. just one step above it is the one with stain lifter. it works great too...but i am ocd about my laundry. right now my routine contains, all...clorox 2 (generic)...downy and calgon water softener. and i use dryer sheets in the dryer. may seem like a bit much, but i love the way my laundry feels and smells.

2 girls; ages 5 and 3 |
I used to be a die hard Tide user. Then I got some Gain and it smelled so darn good so I used that for a while. And I have been using a cup of Borax in most loads (except bleached stuff) for a long time since it helps with hard water. The last time I bought though I bought el cheapo Sun detergent in Wal Mart. I have to say, my clothes don't look any less clean unless I forget to Shout out a stain that Tide/Gain wouldn't have gotten out either. I still use my Borax, but from now on, I'm going with the $5 something Sun instead of the $17 something Tide. I also like Gain fabric softener in the wash and sometimes (if I forget it in the wash) I'll use a dryer sheet.

Someone recently told me there was some new information out saying dryer sheets have a lot of chemicals and aren't good for you...? Has anyone heard anything about this?

My husband does most of the laundry so he chooses the detergent and the brands are always all over the place.
One thing I love, though, is the smell of line-dried clothing. I like the fact that it saves energy, too - a nice plus these days. |

Two boys, ages 3 and 1 |
My husband and boys both have sensitive skin, so we usually use any of the brands that have dye-free, perfume-free versions. I think recently I've been buying the Arm & Hammer brand.

i deal with a lot of grease and oil on dh's clothes. so i add vinegar to his clothes. takes away that diesel smell...vinegar works great on shirts that turn yellow from deo too.
but i like the all small and might too. just started using it. i switch between it and the arm and hammer, which ever is cheaper. i'm stuck on bounce dryer sheets. guess it's because it smells like my mom has done my laundry! |

oh and if you are trying to get clay (from a ball field) out of anything, get some cascade dishwasher powder. make a paste and rub really good with a scrubber like the one on top of the shout gel. then spray with simple green or or the mean green spray from the dollar store. then wash with other clothes.
for some reason, my son always has white baseball pants. i know they look nice but bleach doesn't begin to touch the clay! |
