Ok...so my 7 year old is officially obsessed with Shrinky Dinks...she had wanted this kit from Target but it was around 15 bucks...too expensive right now...so I had remembered getting my nephew some from Michaels that weren't bad...went over there and they have the pack of paper (10 sheets..which can make a bunch)with directions for 6 bucks. They are really fun and my 3 year old likes them now too. Just an idea of cheap fun Smiler

It is actually pretty cool. The paper is 8x10 and has a smooth side and a rough side. The kids draw (or you can use stamps) and then cut them out. Put them in the toaster over (there are directions with the paper) and then the drawings shrink and harden. They become like this thick plastic...you can make jewelery, magnets, all kinds of stuff...we are actually making a sign for Caeli's room Smiler

man. i totally forgot about shrinky dinks. my sister (who is in a nursing home...very sick) does these all the time to pass the time. ive been trying to come up with things we can do on rainy days this summer. this would be perfect. im feeling a field trip to michael's coming on.
you can shrink them in the oven too. sometimes you can get the kits that can be done with a hairdryer too. my sister doesn't use the stove so she does them with a hairdryer.
