Just in case anyone is interested, I see that Borders book store is having a turkey day Kid's party this Satruday Nov. 22 from 02:00 pm-03:30 pm. It says "bring the family for games, storytime, activities, and more!

And Sams Club is having holiday tasting from Friday Nov 21- Sunday, Nov 23 10:30 - 6 pm where you can sample all kinds of appetizers and deserts and they are having food demonstrations.

Anyone else heard of anything interesting going on this weekend?

Also I think I might take the girls to the lighting up of Ocala on Saturday and spend the night in a hotel, but I'm not really familiar with Ocala. I know how to get to Silver Springs and Chuck E. Cheese but that is about it. Does anyone know what exit I should take or how I get to the downtown area?

The Ocala Christmas parade is Sunday at 5:30pm, I believe.

The best exit to take is SR-40/Silver Springs. If you take that straight through Ocala, you will see where the events are. The redirect traffic and you can see where everyone is parking. You can also ask for directions, once you get off the interstate.

I have to work Sunday, but I think I may send my husband and the kids to Borders. The boys will enjoy the activities. I plan on getting off work early enough to go to the Ocala parade, though.

Ooh! You should stay at the Seven Sisters Inn, but I am sure it will be full already. Ocala isn't a far drive from G'ville, I would skip spending the $$ on a hotel and go home if it were me. The rates for holidays get racked up and its so not fair. You should see the rates for a plain old room in G'ville during a big game weekend!! Eeker

Of course, hotels are fun and it may be the only chance you get to have a night away from home, which I totally get, so in that case, have a ball!!

All these events sound like so much fun! Has anyone heard when North Florida is going to light the decorations around the lake? We went last year and had a great time. There was hot chocolate and entertainment.

We would like to try to see that too! I love the way they do that every year. I always liked to go for my prenatal visits when I was pg with G cause my appointments were usually late in the afternoons and a lot of the times when I would leave the lights would already be on.

I was wrong...The Ocala Christmas Parade is actually December 6th at 5:30pm.

The link in a previous post is from last year.

This link has the correct information:

I would also be interested to know when North Florida is doing their lighting. We went last year also and thought it was very nicely done.
