NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
....how a taste or smell can just transport you back in time?! It happened to me tonight in a big way. As some of you know, my mom passed away 4 years ago and this time of year is kind of hard. Well tonight my sis and I decided to just run around town getting some stuff done and we stopped by the mall. We went to the candy store (my giant sweet tooth kicked in..haha) and this candy sort of stuck out to me..so I grab some and we move on. I pop one of them in my mouth and boom...all of a sudden I'm back at my mom's at Christmas...see, she LOVED these raspberry candies that you can only get at Christmas and she ate them constantly. I swear these candies that I got tasted exactly like them. It was comforting and sad at the same time.
Wanted to make sure I said Happy Mother's Day to everyone as well....I hope you all have a great day |

Awww. I am sorry for your loss, again. That does happen to me with smells, but especially with songs. When ever I hear In the Arms of the Angels, it makes me cry. But it's hard when I hear it in random places and I get choked up. There are a bunch of songs that make me think of my sister.

unfortunately, I too go through the ssame thing...smells, taste and sounds (music). All I have to do is hear a song from the 70's or 60's and I think of my late mother. Especially a Carly Simon song...but even some of the most recent songs, some also triggers a memory.
its strange how this affects our every day life. A taste, a smell, a sound, a laughter...triggers memories of either our childhood or someone who has passed. but the good thing is...we move on, because somhow we are still survivors! Safe hugz, Dee collegemomscafe.blogspot.com/ |

The Arms of the Angels song, that kills me too, especially with Angelia's short name being Angel...it's really bad when sometimes Alex and I fall asleep in the playroom at night watching TV, and that song comes on as part of a PSA for the Humane Society, or the ASPCA. I wake up hearing that song and the song itself kills me, and then, knowing what an animal lover and animal rights supporter Angel was, seeing the commercial....oh, gosh, I'm finding this hard, but you know what I mean.
