we have had this chocolate lab sort of adopt us over the last week or so. she showed up a few days ago, stayed for several hours, then disappeared. now she is back again. she's been here for several hours tonight. she is very loving and gentle, even with our chihuahua! she wants to come in the house. she seems very well taken care of, like she is some body's baby, but we cant figure out who she belongs to. if anyone knows of someone whose young chocolate lab seems to make like houdini in northwest gainesville...please let me know.
i have made the joke that i had asked God to guide me...to let me know if getting a bigger dog was "right for us" but i didnt intend on Him dropping a dog on us! haha. if no one claims her, i am not the type to take her to the humane society...she's too sweet for that! it just seems to me that someone would notice that she wasnt there and would be looking for her. of all the houses in this neighborhood she keeps coming to ours. like she belongs here.

There was a sign put up about a week ago in my neighborhood (right by the YMCA on 34th St. (I don't know how close that is to you) I don't know what it was for other than a lost animal but I will check tomorrow morning to see if it is still there and what exactly it was that was lost. I remembet that the name of the animal was "wiggles" though. I'll let you know what I find out.

You should put up Found dog signs. I remember not too long ago I saw signs for a lost chocalate lab, I can't remember exactly where. I saw the Wiggles signs but i'm pretty sure thats a cockapoo. You could call animal services and ask if anyone is missing a chocalate lab too. Just some suggestions, good luck

You should definitely have her scanned for a micro-chip. You can have that done for free at a vet or at animal services. Please keep us posted! And, no collar at all?

i'VE seen the Wiggles flyers all around too. I just hate it when people lose their pets. Its like losing a member of your family.

I finally got close enough tonight to read the sign (I actually had to get out of the car and walk up to it though) but Wiggles is not a chocolate lab. She is a black Cockapoo. I hope somebody finds her and gets her home. It's a really good idea to have the dog scanned for the micro-chip. Good luck!

fortunately the chocolate lab (which my kids have named beauty) has gone home for a while...if she returns again i will have her scanned for a microchip at the closest vet.
thank you lilbit for checking that sign for me. and suzy, no...she has no collar at all. she seems to be getting out of the house (or back yard) at night.
thank you everyone for all the advice...
