Gainesville 4: Boy (10), Girl (7), Boy (23 months), Boy (3 months) |
When do you remember first bonding with baby? Some women say they began bonding with their children during the pregnancy. What about you? And, what has been your favorite age for bonding?

Boy 4.5 & Girl 2. |
I would say it was pregnancy and has just increased with time. I did have some post partum moments of panic when I thought I had not bonded w/ my babies correctly. I had c-sections and was afraid that impacted the bonding that takes place immediately after birth-could not breast feed right away etc. It was all for nothing, as I feel quite bonded today

3 kids, all girls, 17, 15 and 3 |
During pregnancy for me too. I think maybe knowing the gender and naming the baby helps with early bonding. I talked to them ALOT and caressed them through my belly. I even used to put music on through headphones over my belly. All three of my girls born after my first daughter died were monitored for about an hour after they were born to ensure good heart function so I got to hold them momentarily but then not again until they were complaining for their first meal. Still the connection was there and has only grown since.

1 new baby boy |
Def during pregnancy. My first sonogram when I saw that little bean is framed in our nursery. Love at first sight. Also, we bonded a lot when I was at church singing and rubbing my belly as he kicked. It was a very sweet, peaceful time. Now it's def when I feed him (when he's not squirming and pooping and pushing on me for some unknown reason) and he's eating peacefully with his eyes closed and looks so content at my breast. It's beautiful.

Two boys, ages 3 and 1 |
Pregnancy some, but for me it really happened about 2-3 weeks in. I knew I loved both my boys immediately, but I felt like those first few weeks were filled with anxiety (with my first not knowing what I was doing, and with my second all our family kept visiting). After a couple weeks, things were quiet and I had some real alone time with my little ones. We would nurse, nap together, play, talk. It was a really special time.

Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
It was somewhere between 4-8 weeks with my first. We had such a eventful birth, plus him being in NICU, not being able to breastfeed, signing the papers to own our first house, everything happened at once. It took me a while before i felt bonded to my son...but there is no worried over it now. He is my boy!!! LOL
With my daughter it was when the pee stick turned positive. Tammy |
