I was wondering if anyone might be interested in getting together to cook or bake? Possibly once a month or so. My MIL had this idea before I left Indiana. She wanted to get a group of us together to make a bunch of egg rolls. Each of us would bring certain ingredients and then we would put everything together and make a large quantity of whatever we were making. Each of us would take home a good amount and freeze it for future dinners.
My apartment is still a mess since I just moved in, and the kitchen is kind of small. I would however be interested in hosting something like this in the future if anyone is interested.
I know Dine by Design does this too. There are a few moms going to this in September If anyone is interested in going, let me know, and I can give you more information. There meals end up costing $3.33 a person. You make either 6 meals or 12 meals in a session. Daphne

daphnem - I've heard of places such as Dine by Design. I personally don't have that much space in my freezer though.
newsmom - We never actually got around to doing it...that was just one idea we came up with. You could even take it a step further and do a Chinese food cooking afternoon or choose a few dishes to make that use many of the same ingredients.
Some other ideas...soups/stews in the winter, cookies and baked goods around November for the holidays. Even something as simple as bringing fruits and veggies to chop up and bag for the freezer or making jam with whatever is in season. I think it seems to be more fun with more people.
I know the owners of Dine by Design and they are amazing ladies and cooks! They are both Latina and LOVE cooking! It is so inspirational to see that you can make a living doing what you love if you put your mind to it. They catered our wedding and we had the most amazing pasta salad!
Speaking of cooking, I am really bad when it comes to preparing meals in advance, which means we tend to eat out too much. Anyone have any good, quick recipes? I'd like some for my crock pot, too, which I haven't used since I got it over a year ago...
