True story in response to Link
One night my mom picked me up from an away basketball game I had cheered at. It was so late when we got home--about 1AM. We lived in a wooded area and while sleepily approaching our house we noticed a man walking alongside the road. Tall and lanky we paid him no mind until...we pulled slowly into our bumpy drive. I heard my mom's startled scream when all of the sudden she looked out her window to see him staring into the car as we drove by! Startled, we pulled into the car port and waited nearly 20 min for him to be on his way. My dad was fast asleep in the house and we had no cell of course! As we moved quickly and silently up the walkway to the front door, my mom began searching for the right key in the dim porch light. I, looking over my shoulder, noticed a tall, lanky shadow behind an old cedar tree. "Mom...mom...MOM!" I began yelping as the man jumped out and began to RUN toward us, hands flailing in the air. I was shoving behind my mom so forcefully she couldn't get the key in the door! Finally, only 20 feet away, the lock clicked and we burst through as the man was shouting at us, "God bless you! God bless you!" My dad went right out with a gun, even hid behind a tree for 10 min or so, but no sign of "The God Bless You Man" anywhere! |

SOOOOOOOO sorry I'm late as usual!
Ok so here's part 2...it's really sad. Well, about a month later my parents were waiting for a check in the mail. They each thought the other had checked it and at 10 pm realized neither had. They asked me to go down our long driveway lined with woods on one side and get the mail. Still scarred from "The God Bless You Man" I said "no way!" Well, then they offered to PAY my brother and I each $5 to go get it. Well, they never gave us any money and we had no allowance so we ran to our rooms and came back with baseball bats, golf clubs and my brother in his football helmut LOL! He was like 10. The parents said no gear and that we had to WALK the entire way to get the payoff. Well, we finally headed out, nervously chatting the entire way. I've always been accused of having elephant ears that can hear a mile away and on the way back I hear a scratchy voice say, "Hey kids. I'm gonna geeeeet yooooouuuuuu." Track star that I was at 13 I was GONE and jumped the flower beds and hit the door before my brother knew what had happened. My dad was there waiting for me with a sympathetic smile on his face. We turn just in time to see my little chubby brother hear the second, "Hey little boy...I'm gonna geeeet yooooouuuuuuu." He just started screaming and running all over the yard, hands flailing, running zigzags until my dad yelled for him and Joel ran to the door, pushed through us and, in tears, tripped over the couch and face-planted into the carpet where he stayed for nearly 20 minutes. My mom came slinking in the back door she had snuck out out to go hide in the woods shortly after we left. She couldn't hide her guilty smile and I laughed through my exploding heart but my little brother gave her the silent treatment for 3 WHOLE DAYS. I mean not one word to her as she cooked his favorite breakfast and made his bed for him. He just could not believe she could do that to HIM, her favored son. Terrible right? Well, we got our money and my mom got her kicks. We got her back though. I'll give you that one tomorrow. |

Oh that's funny and sad too. Your poor brother but I love that your Mom has that 'wicked' streak. Too many grown ups forget how to have fun!!
Waiting on the next installment.... |
