A few years ago, my hubby and I used to take the kids to this little place where families could fish together. They did contests, had food. It was a lot of fun. Has anyone else gone this year? I am going to try to find out when they are doing it this year. I am pretty sure they do it over the summer.

I have taken the boys there periodically and hope to take them to the one scheduled for this month. Usually on the Kirkpatrick fishing day (the one in May) they provide the kids (ones that come without fishing poles) a free rod/reel, tackle box, and shirt. With budget cuts they may not do that anymore but I hope to go out there and check it out.

We went to last month's because it was hosted by CARD for Autism Awareness month..the cool part was that my husband caught his very first fish. Fishing is not a very big deal to me, I grew up fishing in NJ on my father's charter boat, so if I never have to clean a fish again I'm happy. At least at the fisheries you throw 'em back.
