Well I have had a hard time with this having three kids. Getting a sitter for three kids is super expensive! So, I can't tell you the last time we had a real date night. I think it was for our anniversary. If you don't have family members who will watch the kids, then date night seems like more of a hassle than anything else. Does anyone else have this problem? By the time number four arrives, I fear I will never see another date night until they are in college!!

You probably won't have to wait until college, just until you have one old enough to babysit! I plan on checking out some of the teenagers at our church soon, but right now I have a friend who is willing to exhange babysitting with me, so I do get the occasional night out!

Our church used to sponsor a date night once every three months. The youth and their parents would feed the kids, play games with them and then wind up the night with blankets and a movie. They used the opportunity to raise money for camp or whatever they were doing and we would make a nice donation. The only bad thing about it was having to go pick them up, rather than having them at home. But after a few times, they were as exicted to go play with everyone as we were to get out!

Good news is that right after I posted this, my mother called to tell me that her church is having a similar date night - for free. She signed the kids up, yay! The kids get to eat dinner and watch movies while the grown ups go out. They apparently ask for parents not to pay even a donation because it is their way of serving worn out parents like me. I have the date circled in red on my calendar. Now, what am I going to do with this unique opportunity?

It is kind of on the same topic....a male friend asked me out. To go eat and just catch a movie. I dont know if its just me or not having been on a date in forever or what, but dose this seam like a date? I haven't seen this friend in a little while and we use to be close. (not to mention i found out he had a crush on me) so I'm confused. HELP!!!!!!

I think that if he used to have a crush on you, he probably still doesWink

Do you want to go on a date with him? Or do you simply want to hang out as friends?

don't worry about what it is!!! just enjoy the grown up time. be prepared for just friends, be prepared for going dutch. but get dressed up enough to feel good about yourself.

if you worry about what it is, you won't enjoy yourself as much.

keep us posted, we lead very boring lives and want to live a little through you!!!

We'll be looking forward to hearing all about it. Like SB mom said, regardless of what it turns out to be. Grown-up time is good!

The update......Okay so my friend came over to hang out. (Dalton was at his dads house). I had a blast!!! We ate dinner and watched some TV, talked things like that. It was nice to have some adult time. Since then he calls ever day to see how my day was. He works weekends and has mon and tue off so its a little hard to do anything. The other day he came over and met Dalton. They clicked right off the bat. I think he spent more time with Dalton playing cars and puzzels than he did with me, but thats okay. I have smiled more in the past few weeks more than I have in a long time. Its so nice.

Oh, yay! The update! I have been wondering about this. Glad to hear that you had a good time and my favorite part was when you talked about smiling! That put a smile on my face. Because, trust me, I know how that goes -- especially when you are a single mommy.

Thanks for the update!!

as i'm sure you are already, be very careful about how much time you let him spend with dalton. children become very attached, very quickly. i speak from personal experience. i dated a man for almost a year and our (we both had children from previous marriages) children took our break up worse than we did.

it seems great to see your child having fun with someone you enjoy spending time with. just be cautious.

i learned this lesson the hard way and if i can spare anyone the heart ache...

but most of all, enjoy smiling! i forgot how to do it once...never again...

Well, I decided when I got home tonight that I wanted and needed a date night. For us, that means the kids go to bed early, and we are getting Chinese (something I have been craving) and watching a movie.

Ahhh...the perfect date night on a budget. But what makes it wonderful is that I am wearing a robe and no shoes and no makeup! Now that's a perfect date night for a woman who is 8 months prego!!
