So my baby is 6 months old and she hasn't had a drop of formula until this week. I use the pump at work on my two 15 mins breaks and on my lunch break. Well, I got sick last week with the stomach flu. I couldn't nurse and was too weak to pump or even get out of bed and lost 5 pounds from dehydration. Now I'm better but the supply is gone. And I get so frustrated now and upset that when I pump, I get nothing. It won't let down. So now we've had to put her on formula and I hate it. I should be happy that I made it this far but I'm not. My baby loves to nurse and she gets pretty mad with no let down occurs. We've been thru all the frozen bags of milk in the freezer and now are giving her formula with whatever breast milk I can get. Has this happened to anyone else? Does the supply ever come back? Thanks.

Have you tried Fenugreek? I used that to increase my supply, and it seemed to help.

check out www.asklenore.com
the strategies for adoptive breastfeeding will probably work even better if you've given birth. Eat lots of oatmeal!

The same exact thing happened to me about two months ago. I got a nasty stomach bug and couldn't get out of bed for days, let alone eat or drink enough water. My supply dropped, we used up all our frozen bags and I was devastated. As I got better my supply slowly went back up over about a week or two's time. Just keep at it and your body will adjust back to normal. When we're sick, our body's go into survival mode. Drink lots of water, eat right and your body will know what to do. And congrats on making it six months!!!!
