That is really good information. Yet another reason to breastfeed. Though, it kind of makes me feel bad that I have been unable to breastfeed following my reduction surgery. Every time I hear stuff like this, I can't help but feel a little guilty. But I guess there really is no option for some women.

I certainly hope this article doesn't make moms feel guilty if they are unable to breastfeed. Sure there are benefits to breastfeeding your child, but I think that they've come a long way with formula too! I was bottle-fed as a baby (30 years ago!) and I'm a fairly healthy gal. Smiler I just thought it was interesting to read what scientists plan to do with the stem-cells from breast milk. Maybe there's a new way for SAHM's to make money from home! Wink~

No, the article didn't make me feel bad; I think it is great information and perhaps I will try, try again. Seriously, thanks for the great information.

I loved breastfeeding (I breastfed my daughter for almost 16 months) and had soooooo much breastmilk... I ended up throwing away bags of it in the freezer! I wanted to donate it or something but wasn't sure if that was even a possibility. Next time I'll sell it Smiler

It actually is possible to donate breastmilk. I remember reading an article about how hospitals can used donated breastmilk for newborns whose mothers are unable to breastfeed.

Unfortunately, they also charged the insurance companies an arm and a leg, so in the end, the moms were donating breastmilk and the hospitals were profiting off of it. Didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I also read somewhere (can't remember now) that there is a charity you can donate your milk to, and they ship it to starving infants in Africa.

Really? A charity in Africa that you can donate your breast milk to. I love that! I am going to scour the internet and see what I can come up with on this one.
