I've been criticised lately for not feeding the baby according to schedule (especially for not reading the book "Babywise"). I do "on demand" feeding and he kind of got on a schedule by himself. It works for us but since I don't have the book I don't know if there is a better way I don't know about. What did you do? Does this mean the baby goes hungry until it's his "time to eat?"

I think you could tell if your baby was starving. He got on a schedule himself because that is what works for him. I wouldn't pay any attention to that book. When he grows a little older and his stomach gets bigger, he'll probably change his eating habits.

I am not a parent who has forced schedules. I know it works for many as does the letting them cry it out stuff etc. I fed mine on demand. I picked them up when they cried and played with them when they were demanding my attention. They both adopted totally reasonable schedules on their own.

On demand feeding is what I did. I believe it changes all the time throuhout the first year of what & how much he needed. If he was going through a growth spurt, teething..... he would want to eat more/less sometimes.... I'm sure your little one will let you know when he wants something.... Don't worry about what others think..... Mommy knows best!!

While I think some of those resource books are nice to look at, I always chose to do what was best for me and my baby.

I fed my daughter on demand, and she pretty much set a schedule that worked out well for the whole family.

Like the othe moms said, do what works for you and your baby. One book can't possibly apply to every baby, every mom and every family all the time.
