Please bare with me. You guys are my support system for all things breastfeeding, whether you like it or notWink

So, for those who went back to work and BF there, how often did you have to pump? And how much did you usually produce at each pumping?

For me, pumping at work did not go well. Prior to going back to work, when Gavyn was still feeding regularly, I would pump in between feedings. That way I had a store of milk for times when I wasn't available or able to feed him. During those pumping sessions I was able to produce 1-2 oz. per side.

Once I went back to work I went from being able to pump 2oz a side each session, to only being able to pump MAYBE a half an oz very quickly. I don't know why, but I don't think "the girls" liked the machine as much as the real thing. I had a good pump too, it wasn't the pump. I just think that once I started pumping, not being able to pump as regularly as Gavyn was feeding became my down fall. That combined with the feel of the pump made things difficult.

Hopefully the herbal remedy you brought up in an earlier post will help boost your flow.

I went back to work when Kristi was 6 weeks old and was pumping every 2 hours getting 4oz from each breast - she ate alot Smiler But I was still nursing at night and anytime we were together. I gradually went to pumping every 4 hours. Once K starting sleeping throught the night and I wasn't feeding her anymore, just pumping, production slowed way down and stopped altogether.

I always used to pump the breast that she didn't feed on when she was done eating to help build a supply up.... that came in handy when I was sick! I had a very good pump and I think that helped too.

I worked 12 hr shifts so I pumped about every three to four hours. I usually got 3-4 oz per breast. However, if for some reason I didn't let down then I would only get about 1-2 oz. That hardly ever happened. I nursed both kid for a year to fifteen months. The first one I supplied plenty, he never had to have formula. The second one had to be supplemented with formula at about 6 months. She has always had a bigger appetite.

Well, let's really hope the Fenugreek works wonders for me. I am producing only ounce ounce from both sides, and that is like every 3-4 hours. (Boo!)
