I had my baby a week ago today and my milk still has not come in. Right now, I am pumping but only getting 1 ounce at a time. My daughter will not latch on which is why I am pumping only. I called the lactation consultant and she suggested Reglan and called in the prescription for me. She advised that one of the side effects is depression. I am not a depressed person but that worries me a little bit. I wanted to ask for advise before I go and pick it up. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm sorry..I've never used it. I looked around a little on the internet for some info but there are just the basics that I found on a quick search. I'm sure someone on the site will have some info for you.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you. Keep it up and I'm sure your milk will come in. Is this your first baby? Mine for my first baby took 5 days till it came in on it's own. I was beginning to wonder too.

Hang in there sweety-- sometimes it can be a rough start with breastfeeding. It took my first baby almost 12 weeks before she really got the hang of it (but then she nursed until she was almost 20 months). I also had milk supply issues. I did not use Reglan, but I used Motilium and took fenugreek. The Motilium worked great-- I didn't have any side effects. Bad part is you have to order from an on-line pharmacy because it is not approved for use in the USA by the FDA. Google it and make your own decision. But it worked really well for me.

I did not use Reglan, but tried more herbal remedies for supply problems, fenugreek, in particular. Have you asked your lactation consultant about those?

Maybe try calling La Leche League too. They are such a great resource. Here's their local Web site.

Good luck. I breastfed for almost a year with both mine, and it was so difficult in the beginning -- more difficult than anyone told me it would be. It took me and the boys about six weeks to get into a groove both times, but it was so worth the work and frustration.

Good luck!

Don't be discouraged by the one ounce right now. I started pumping at a week and only got that and then whammo .. pretty soon I was a diary cow.

Thanks for all of your well wishes! I tried fenugreek with my son but could not stand the maple syrup thing! What are some other herbal remedies out there that you guys have used that have worked for you?

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! It took me some time to get it all going as well. The fact you are pumping and getting anything is a great sign! I used a lacatation tea that I bought at Mother Earth (sold at most healthfood stores). It was great. Keep us posted on how you are doing!
