Gainesville 4: Boy (10), Girl (7), Boy (23 months), Boy (3 months) |
So, was anyone spoiled by generous friends and family right after the birth when it came to meals, or did you fend for yourself. I have mixed reviews on this one in my own life.

NW Gainesville 2..girl 7 and boy 3 |
We were really lucky with both of ours....we had friends and in-laws bring us food. They brought us frozen things that we could just throw in the oven. We were also lucky enough to have my best friend here with her 2 kids and they took our daughter out when I was in the hospital with the second....Hey...I'm willing to bring you guys a meal

I had no idea people did that for each other when I had my first baby! Fortunately, my mom and hubby were around and they cooked and stuff. But with my second, the people from my church brought over dinner for about 9 or 10 days. It was awesome.
I don't expect that to happen this time around now that we've moved. I hardly know anyone! |

Well my funny story is that (and I can laugh at it now) when I was a single mom with my son and daughter, we had just started going to this church. Actually, had been there since I was about 5 months prego. I never knew we did meals for people when they had babies, but apparently we did.
Well, I had the baby and got no meals. Which was fine. Afterall, I didn't know any better. And then this other lady who was in my small group had a baby like 2 weeks after me. Her husband handed me this "list" When I asked him what it was, he told me it was to help provide meals for their family because they just had a baby. Ofcourse, I was thinking...what about me? But I got over that quickly. Although, I have to admit, I never took them a meal. I was still trying to feed my own babies |

Hawthorne 3 wonderful kids! step-son (17) son (8) girl (5) |
Omg, Susie, that was so insensitive of him to hand you a list of things you can bring for them when they did nothing for you. And being a single mom isn't easy.
But about the orginal topic, I was never brought any meals with either one of my babies, but my ex-inlaws stayed with us for the first 2 weeks. They did help with cooking and some cleaning. But since my second was born in a different place, I was on my own. Tammy |
