# of kids: 1 new baby boy

Ok so before I say this I want you all to know that I realize my problems right now are small compared to what some people go through post partum. The other babies in NICU are so tiny and fragile I can't even imagine. I know I'm blessed.

That being said...I HAVE POISON IVY!!!!!! I can only think I got it from my indoor/outdoor cat but I am highly allergic and it is all over my belly and hips. I am so scared I'm gonna get it on my breasts and give it to the baby I wear gloves and a gown to touch him. It itches like you wouldn't believe and I just had to start an oral steroid because it got so bad. I haven't had it in years and it's just so crazy to get it NOW. You just get to the point where you say, "Of course this is happening!" And then you laugh.

man, that does suck! you can try aveeno baths (the oatmeal stuff). that works for everything! we use it alot. and since its not a medication, it wont harm the baby at all.
and ya know what...your baby is in the NICU. you are ALLOWED to feel a bit devastated and like your problems are huge. its ok. i know from being there that although your child isnt as bad off as some kids in there, its still so scary. and being there is no small thing. my thoughts are with you daily! hope you and your little one feel better soon!!

You poor thing. I can imagine your fear of passing it along. Try the Aveeno....and a good soak will make you feel better anyway. I had a friend who had an outbreak of cold sores all over her mouth from the stress of her child bearing. She had to wear a mask for the first 2 weeks of her baby's life. The poor kid didn't know what her mother looked like without the stupid mask!

And I understand about having the chunky baby in the NICU...Hannah was 8 pounds 5 ounces. She was a monster compared to all those tiny things. But her complications, and Jack's are complications just like all the other ones. I kept feeling like she shouldn't be there because surely there was a sicker baby, but she had as much reason to be there as the others....

When do the Drs think your little man can come home????

There is never a good time to have Poison Ivy, but it just doesn’t seem fair so soon after enduring a LONG pregnancy and just when you are trying to bond with your new little guy. Hopefully the prescription will do the trick quickly…they typically do  Just a little caution if you do decide to use an oatmeal bath: Warm water tends to open your pores…and when you have something like Poison Ivy, there is a possibility that it can spread even more from that. Good luck and happy healing!

OMG! Ouch!! Are you serious?! I got it once, rally bad! And it was the worst. I am so sorry. And not good timing, at all. But can there be good timing for Poison Ivy? I don't think so. Hope u feel better soon!

Thanks. Today I tried to laugh about it as I said but that didn't last long. I was told I wasn't allowed to even come to the NICU and see Baby Jack today and I was so near a depression slip I asked my hubby to stay home from work. He did and we had a good day despite my bouts of tears. They don't want me to contaminate anything and I am just devastated. I want the best for him and it's hard that it's not me right now Frowner

That explains it. Now I am laughing. But, for a good reason. I'll call you about it today.
