After hearing everyone talk so highly of the birthing center, I think I might want to switch. I am delivering at Shands but I'm rethinking this. Has anyone delivered there? Can you switch from doctor to midwife in the middle of your pregnacy?

I have delivered twice there, my sister has had 3 there, my sister-in-law has had 1 there (her other 2 were at another birth center), and my cousin has had 2 there. I was at all but my cousin's 2 deliveries.

I loved my experiences there. It was always a great feeling to go to my appointments where it always felt like that they really cared and wanted to get to know you for more than your belly. The midwife I had with my last birth almost 2 years ago is not there anymore, but we discussed everything from how I was doing and my family was doing to her internet dating. Mary Ann is back there, and she used to own it before it moved, and she was 1 of the 3 who I saw when I was pregnant with my daughter. She also delivered my oldest niece.

It really is birth your way. They want you to do your thing when you birth there. It really is a fabulous place.
