I love Vera! But I only usually buy it when it's on sale, and they do have some really good sales. Thanks for the info! Although, my hubby would probably flip if I bought more Vera. I think I am at my limit. Roll Eyes

That's awesome. I think my hubby would freak a little too if I bought one right now. I've got a closet full of purses -- but it never seems like enough.

I'll definitely remember this for some Christmas gifts though!! Smiler

I used to live in the home of Vera Bradley=-) I was all the time picking the stuff up at garage sales. A LOT of people there think it's ugly, and they would get it for Christmas gifts and garage sale it=-) I love the new designs.

Okay, at the risk of being thought of as a freak, what the heck is "A Vera" -?? Keep in mind I don't buy designer anything because if they want me to walk around with their brand/name/label on it, they need to pay me the big bucks, not the other way 'round!

I admit I do have one Prada handbag from eons ago and one Fossil purse but you know, the one time I tried to use the Fossil one, I found it lacking pockets that I NEED with all the "mom" stuff I carry now. Right back to my 1970's art deco turquoise and blue marble swirled vinyl purse I went! The Prada I use for 'dressy nights out' which means about once a year, maybe once every two years, it gets pulled out of the storage box under my bed and used for my hubby's company Christmas party.

So anyway, educate me - what is a "Vera" anyway?

Vera Bradley is a designer of quilted purses/wallets/diaper bags, you name it and she makes it! They are VERY popular among the preppy college girls, Mom types who drive Mini vans and older ladies. So, quite a wide target market. They are fun & cute. People collect them in all diff patterns/colors to match their wardrobes Smiler. They have been very popular for quite a few years. They are very casual-not at all something you would pull out for a fancy night out. She retires the patterns every season-so, it keeps the "Vera" addicts coming back for more Smiler. Hope that explanation helped Smiler.

Oh dear, you guys are talking about those hideous quilted things that look like patchwork and are priced stupid high - SORRY! I know that will offend some but my personal take on those items is that if I were given one, I wouldn't ever take it out of the box/bag - just straight to Goodwill. I am sure many people look at my personal taste in many things and wonder what I am thinking so I feel justified in voicing my thoughts here - please no killing the anti-Vera.

Honestly, I've seen those bags down here and since there is such a huge Amish/Menonite population here, I thought they were a local product. Red Face

Oh well, to each their own, right!! And if I ever get one of these as a gift, I know just where to look for a new home for it with one of you guys!! LOL

Michelle - I'm not a huge fan either. But I haven't been to a store and shopped around either, and I usually just carry around the same old purse. There probably are some cute prints, but isn't it hard to match prints with your outfits, especially if your shirt has a clashing print? I confess that the first time I saw one, I thought it was one of those quilted makeup bags that you buy at a drug store Razzer But I'm too cheap to buy a designer purse. I usually lug around the same old one for years until I need a new one. But I do use a hand-me-down Prada wallet from my sister.

Marianne - thanks for the support! LOL I got my Prada at Sandy's consignment shop on N 13th and paid $9 for it!! No, it isn't a knock off, they just priced it like any old handbag. I did ask if there were any shoes that came in the same lot....no Frowner

Even the Fossil I got for under $35 and that is the only thing saving it from being Goodwill bound. I love the colors but the functionality is sadly lacking.

Then again, I am not one to match my handbag to my shoes, my bra to the panties - too much effort!! (plus not enough space!) I live in my tank tops, t shirts, jeans and jean shorts with my flip flops or crocs and leave looking fab to the rest of you guys.

I can't believe you girls! Just kidding Smiler The purses are pretty pricey, so I wait until the prints/styles are going out of season to buy. You can get them pretty cheap!

What I like about the bags is that you can wash them, which is perfect, especially when sippy cups leak!

And I do have to agree, some look a little, well, strange, but most of the prints are pretty cute.

Oh, they are definitely pricey. The two I've got I got as gifts, otherwise I don't think I'd pay for them -- which is why I am loving this site!!

Most of my cuter purses have come from Target or Kohl's on their clearance rack. It helps me not feel so bad about having so many. Smiler

Oh yes, I depend on my mom for my Vera purses lol She usually gets them for me as gifts since I don't mind carrying a print or style that's "retiring." Why pay full-price for the same purse you can get for more than 50 percent off a few months later!?
